Speech for English Class.
Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, could I have your attention please?
Today I am going to talk about a topic that should concern us all these days. Food, what can we say about food? Some people encourage their children to eat much, they say: "- the more you eat, the healthier you are", but until when can we say that this is a true fact?
Food is really necessary to have a good standard of living, it is in fact essential. However as everything else, food in excess is unhealthy.
I am here to let you know what we should take into account at the time of deciding what are we going to have for our daily diet.
Nowadays more and more people in the world are lowering their longevity by having bad eating habits.
In order to improve the situation, we must learn about what's healthy and what's not. Upon the completion of this task we can proceed by informing others what we know by teaching them at different opportunities we may have and by making them aware of the benefits of having healthy eating habits.
The main things we should take into account, are that eating more doesn't necessarily mean being healthier, and having a balanced diet doesn't mean starving, okay?
Imagine if we all could learn to cook at least three healthy recipes, then we could teach them to each other and we would all know how to prepare a wide variety of healthy dishes.
In this way, annual deaths due to obesity and other food related diseases would decrease dramtically, since to have bad eating habits is being currently the main cause of death every year, even surpassing smoking.
Obesity is an alarming problem which isaffecting people worldwide and we shouldn't let it develop anymore, let's be smarter and let the world be aware of this problem we are facing.
Together, we can contribute to make the earth a better and healthier place ; If you really want to change the world for the better remember that always, where there's a will, there's a way.

Very good! Guada, you bring up some important points that I think really illustrate the simplicity with which the community as a whole may approach this problem. Home cooking is one of the easiest ways to eat a healthy and balanced diet, and is a skill which should be taught to young people. You also say that eating a balanced diet doesn't mean starving, this is such a good point to bring up! It is all about eating the right foods in the right ratios, to find out what this is you should refer to the Healthy Eating Pyramid. Thank you for sharing this speech, Guada. Your English is really beginning to shine!
ResponderEliminarFor the first time in the history of humanity there is a part of the population that is dying from too much food, rather than too little. And the choices they make in selecting food contribute to this decline in their health. I remember when I was in Buenos Aires I walked a lot and ate smaller portions with healthier local options like Argentinians do at traditional restaurants (and not the American "fast food" places sprouting there like toxic toadstools.) I feel a lot healthier with that lifestyle than I do here in the United States.
